The American Animal Hospital Associations defines veterinary laser therapy as "an innovative treatment that has gained popularity in recent years as veterinarians discover its benefits for pets." When our doctors feel it would be helpful, technicians trained in non-invasive photobiomodulation therapy may conduct laser therapy with your pet. Laser therapy has been shown to manage pain and decrease inflammation and accelerate wound healing. It can be used to promote healing in a wide variety of conditions.
The benefits of laser therapy for animals include:
improved wound healing
decreased inflammation
faster healing and repair
Pets for whom laser therapy may be especially helpful include:
those with chronic arthritis,
those with surgical incisions,
those with traumatic injuries,
cats, for whom only a few pain medications are approved,
pets with liver disease who cannot take medications, and
older animals with poor organ function
Laser treatments are administered by one of our trained veterinary technicians.
