We are proud to support a number of community organizations through donations, and we offer discounted services for many nonprofit rescues in the Centre Region. Each one of us who works on the CAH team followed our heart into this profession, and it is rewarding to be able to do our part in helping give animals in need a fresh start.
Alley Cat Rescue, Inc - a national organization which encourages local veterinarians to participate in a “Spring Spay Challenge” to spay or neuter two free-roaming cats from our local area each week from March 1 through May 31.
Centre County PAWS - a nonprofit cat and dog rescue organization, Centre County PAWS has 700 active volunteers and offers hundreds of animals a second chance at a forever home. PAWS has both a large and active fostercare program and a well-maintained facility for additional animals. More than 850 animals found their forever homes with PAWS’ help in 2019.
Centre Wildlife Care - a nonprofit wildlife rescue organization, CWC rehabilitates wild animals found in the Centre Region year-round, with their biggest crunch coming during “baby season” in spring, when many infant wild creatures are orphaned. In 2019, CWC took in over 1,600 orphaned and injured wild animals.
Discovery Space - a hands-on science center for central PA children with interactive exhibits, programs for children of all ages, summer camps and STEM opportunities. We sponsor summer camp opportunities and a STEM program that exposes girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Hope’s Dream Rescue & Sanctuary - a small nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Howard, Hope’s works with a network of foster caregivers to rehome animals in need.
Hundred Cat Foundation - a nonprofit organization that strives to improve the lives of feral, stray and free-roaming cats in the Centre Region. HCF also supports the people caring for these cats by assisting individuals caring for colonies, providing low-cost spay/neuter services, providing food, and sharing education on feral and stray cat management.
Huntingdon County Humane Society - a nonprofit cat and dog rescue in Huntingdon, PA, HCHS works to rehome animals, promote animal safety and wellbeing, and offer education about the importance of spay/neuter for family pets.
Nittany Greyhound Rescue - Located outside of State College, Nittany Greyhounds has been re-homing retired racing greyhounds for 25 years. To date, they have found forever homes for more than 1,900 greyhounds. This year, their rescue efforts have focused significantly on Florida and Alabama, which closed down their greyhound racetracks, leaving thousands of greyhounds in need of urgent rescue.
Nittany Beagle Rescue - a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of beagles in central Pennsylvania. NBR accepts beagles from shelters and from owners who can no longer keep them and works to find them loving, permanent homes.
One Dog at a Time - a nonprofit organization dedicated to legally assisting animals in need by working with dog wardens, humane officers, local police, and the PA State Police to build relationships and solutions.
Pets Come First - a nonprofit cat and dog rescue in Centre Hall, PA that also partners with low-cost spay/neuter clinics and other organizations to better the lives of local homeless animals. We support PCF’s annual Dog Jog
Rowe’s Research Runners - one of our clients started this nonprofit to increase funding, raise awareness, and facilitate connections for people with ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome), dysautonomia, and related illnesses.
Schlow Centre Region Library - Visit Schlow for a large selection of books on pet loss, coping with grief, animal-oriented careers, animal care and much more. In 2020, we donated several books on helping children through pet loss grief. Read our Pet Loss blog to learn how to talk to kids about losing a pet.
